Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 May 2026
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how JSON to Excel ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the website and online service at www.jsontoexcel.in (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Scope and controller
This Policy applies to visitors and users of the Service. For privacy inquiries, data requests, or complaints, contact us at support@jsontoexcel.in.
2. Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- File and conversion data: JSON files you select for conversion are processed in your web browser to generate Excel files. We do not intentionally store the full contents of your JSON or Excel files on our servers as part of the standard conversion flow.
- Session and usage data: A session identifier, conversion counts, paid-access status, and related technical metadata used to enforce free and paid limits and prevent abuse.
- Payment data: When you purchase paid access, payments are processed by Razorpay. We may receive payment IDs, order IDs, amounts, currency, and payment status. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or UPI PIN.
- Email address (optional): If you choose to email a converted file, we process the recipient address and message metadata required to send the email. Do not submit email addresses you are not authorized to use.
- Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, timestamps, and diagnostic logs generated when you use the Service or when errors occur.
- Local storage on your device: Theme preference, session identifier, and recent download references may be stored in your browser's local storage.
3. How we use information
We use information for legitimate business purposes, including to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Authenticate sessions and apply free and paid usage limits;
- Process payments and confirm paid access;
- Send optional transactional emails you request;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests;
- Analyze aggregated or de-identified usage to improve reliability and performance.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your file contents to train machine-learning models.
4. Legal basis (where applicable)
Depending on your location, we process personal information based on one or more of the following: performance of a contract (providing the Service you request), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and service improvement), compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where required (for example, optional email delivery).
5. How conversion works
Conversion from JSON to Excel occurs in your browser. Generated Excel files are available for download in your current session for a limited period (currently thirty (30) minutes), after which download links in the interface expire. You are responsible for saving copies you wish to retain.
6. Third-party service providers
We use third-party providers that process information on our behalf only as needed to operate the Service, including:
- Hosting and infrastructure (for example, Vercel);
- Session and cache storage (for example, Upstash Redis);
- Payment processing (Razorpay);
- Email delivery (for example, Resend or SMTP), when you use email features.
These providers have their own privacy policies and may process data in jurisdictions other than yours. We require them to handle data only for authorized purposes, subject to their agreements with us and applicable law.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use browser local storage and similar technologies for essential functionality (session management, preferences, and download state). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies for targeted ads. You may clear local storage through your browser settings; doing so may reset your session or preferences.
8. Data retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Session and payment-related records are retained for a limited period consistent with operations, billing, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. Error and security logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
9. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information, or to object to processing and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email support@jsontoexcel.in. We may need to verify your request. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority where applicable.
11. Sensitive and confidential data
The Service is not intended for highly sensitive personal data unless you accept the risks of using an online tool. Do not upload passwords, government identifiers, financial account details, health records, or other regulated data unless you have a lawful basis and understand that browser-based processing and optional email still involve risk. For strictly confidential data, use offline tools.
12. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. International users
The Service is operated from India. If you access the Service from outside India, you understand that your information may be processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when changes were posted. Material changes may be communicated by posting the revised Policy on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
